Travis pulled hard on the rod, the line jerking back and forth in the
water not giving him an ounce of freedom. “This one’s gotta be the one,”
he thought out loud. As he continued to reel the line in, the large
salmon burst forth from the lake, splashing water everywhere. He caught
it.
All the signs pointed away from Bear Claw Lake for tourists, they all
suggested the Gull Bay Beach down the road for the fishing locations.
But he caught a tip from a forum poster that this lake was special, the
biggest salmon all lived in it. And for once the internet was right
about something.
As his catch violently shook the line, he pulled it closer and eye’d his
prize. “You’re gonna be dinner tonight bud!” He licked his lips
voraciously, unaware of his expression dulling over as his nose pulled
further from his face.
“Huhuurrhurr, I can’t wait to give you a taste…” He couldn’t control
himself as the salmon bobbed in front of him. It just looked too
appetizing!
His long tongue started to flop out of his mouth, subtle-ly growing by the second.
Not only was his tongue growing, but his entire body had began to bubble
up and take on new mass, for this was the curse of Bear Claw Lake. The
salmon were only meant for the bears. Forbidden to the eyes of the
public for a reason.
Lapping his tongue against his new catch, the newest brown bear of the
forest began to take in his first new scents of the lake. He was
overpowered by the delicious scent of the catch pressed against his maw,
however. Fur had overtaken the unsuspecting former man’s entire body.
His shoes finally gave way, tearing off his claw tipped bear paws. As he
finally slumped down on his rump, beginning to gnaw away at his catch
in his big clumsy paws.
The bear quickly gobbled up his meal as his shreds of clothing fell to
the grass. He found himself lumbering into the creek, hoping to catch
another big salmon before the sun set in his new home.
